You may be asking yourself, just what is a Slimline? This is simply a neck variation that was asked for by popular demand. Since the beginning, we were making back of the neck shapes with a more traditional and vintage shape and feel. We were never fans of baseball bat style necks, so we created our very own version of a neck shape that was full yet not such a boxy square feel. After playing many other popular guitars, we came to the conclusion that we could improve upon them. So we formulated our stock neck variation and went with the same shape for many years. During that time, we had a few orders for "asymetric" and 'v' necks but not often enough to change our stock neck shape. And for many of those with medium to large hands, for the most part this neck meets the need. Keep in mind that if someone is used to a popular guitar manufacturers traditional neck shape, it is simply easier for them to graduate to a Stallings USA guitar without feeling strange getting used to it.

But the one thing that many musicians kept asking for over and over again, especially among the metal players, was a faster and thinner neck shape. And we listened to you the musician. So by popular demand, we formulated the Slimline neck shape. This is essentially a thinner version of our popular stock neck shape. It allows for those lightning fast chord and note changes without the extra wood getting in the way. Once again, keep in mind that if someone is used to a popular guitar manufacturers thinner neck shape, it is simply easier for them to graduate to a Stallings USA guitar without feeling strange getting used to it. Many of our inventory actually had this neck shape before we came up with the logo for it, so you may even find a guitar that has the Slimline logo in the listing, yet not actually on the guitar itself. But don't worry, if it says Slimline in the listing, it is a genuine Slimline neck.
